Thoughtfully built. Purposefully evolved.
By Behan Venter, CTO, Hudson Cloud Systems

At Hudson, everything starts with our customers. We are always focused on creating a customer-driven solution. The work we do and the systems we build are shaped entirely by what our customers need, not by whatever happens to be trending in the market. We build technology our customers love to use every day.
This first post is the story of how Hudson Cloud Systems evolved from hands-on experience into a platform built to solve real problems in healthcare environments.
One of our core philosophies at Hudson is that we think before we act. We don't rush decisions. Our belief is that centralized IT, from the early mainframe days to today's Azure Virtual Desktop, is still the most reliable and secure model. And in that model, the best technology is the kind that gets out of the way. Like a light switch, it should just work. We also believe the future of AI will be built on this foundation. We don't know exactly what AI will become, but we're sure that a centralized, cloud-native approach puts us in the best position to harness it.
Hudson Cloud Systems didn't start as a product. It started with listening. After running enterprise infrastructure at NBC Universal and leading the global Exchange Online operations team at Microsoft, I launched Hudson as a consulting firm. It had to evolve from there. Things shifted when we were asked to take over IT for a large orthopedics practice. We introduced centralized desktops, digitized their workflows, and experienced firsthand what it means to build around clinical care. That led to designing and deploying the IT environment for a new dental college, a fully virtualized setup with Citrix and GPU-backed Virtual Desktops to support advanced 3D dental software. With each step, we weren't building for ourselves. We were building something our customers would love.
When Azure Virtual Desktop reached parity with our hosted Citrix setups, we pivoted. Today, Hudson offers two refined products: a multi-tenant AVD environment for small to midsize practices, and a single-tenant model for larger institutions, all built in Azure. We're proud to support clinics and schools that expect more from their IT. This blog is where we'll unpack how we got here, where we're going, and what we're thinking along the way. Welcome.
